Closeout
How a deficiency opens, who may close it, and what a hold with a review date is for.
A deficiency opens from a record when a check fails its limit or its condition. It names the asset, the check, the reading, the time, and the person who was there. It does not open because someone is worried in general. Worry without a failed check is a note on the visit.
Owner
Every open deficiency has an owner. The owner starts as the person who found it. A supervisor can move it. An item with no owner is a broken item, and the list shows it that way. Do not clear the owner to tidy the board.
Who closes
The supervisor closes, or the owner closes their own item, according to the role on the workspace. An inspector cannot close another person’s item. That rule has been in place since 2.2. It is the rule Larkspur uses so a third-shift finding is not closed from the parking lot.
Closing requires a note. A photo on the close is optional and, when you take one, belongs on the item. “Done” is not a note. “Replaced the packing, no drip at the gland, 14:10” is a note.
Holds
A hold is an open item with a review date and a reason. Use it when the work is real and should not happen today: waiting on a part, waiting on an outage, waiting on break. The date is a date. The item returns to the open list that morning. Holds without dates are not a state the product will save.
A hold is not a close. The pack still shows it, under held, so a startup decision can treat food-contact holds as blocks and other holds as known. You set which checks are blocks. Tidep does not guess.
Reopen
A supervisor can reopen. The history keeps the close and the reopen. Inspectors see the current state. They do not get a button that erases the earlier close.
