The queue is a count of records on the device. A killed app does not drop a photo that was mid-write.

Load the route before you leave coverage. The device keeps the route, the limits, and the last three readings. You can record with no signal. The queue is the list of records and photos that have not synced.

The screen shows a count. It used to show a percentage. Inspectors waited on the percentage as if it were a task. Release 2.3 made it a count: four records waiting, or none. When the device finds a network, it sends. You do not have to tap a sync button, and there is one if you want to see it go.

A killed app

If the operating system kills Tidep while a photo is moving from the camera into the record, the record is not marked saved until that file is in the queue. This is release 2.7, written after a cooler at Larkspur ate a gasket photo and left a cheerful saved state behind. You may have to take the photo again if it never reached the queue. You will not be told it is there when it is not.

Conflicts

If two people record against the same check before either syncs, you will see both. Tidep does not pick a winner and hide the other. A supervisor chooses, or you add a correction. Silent merge is how numbers change in a month and nobody can say when.

What is not on the device

The full history, other routes you are not on, and the pack builder stay on the server. If you need last year’s reading for a pole you have not cached, you need a network, or you need to have exported it before you left. Plan the rare lookups. Do not plan the whole morning around them.
